How much should a CV cost in the UK?

Pick your career level and what you need. You'll get the typical UK price, a verdict on any quote you've had, and a comparison of named services.

We sell CVs too, so you should know our position. Most CV pricing guides are written by a CV service and end by recommending it. This one will tell you when we're the wrong choice. For executive roles, we are.

What a professional CV costs in the UK

UK CV help falls into four rough price bands:

Why CV writing prices vary so much

Price mostly tracks how much of a skilled person's time you get. A writer who spends 45 minutes on the phone with you, drafts twice and revises once has put in several hours. A service that works from your existing CV with no contact can charge far less because it does far less, which is fine if your CV mostly needs restructuring rather than rethinking.

The rest of the spread comes from turnaround (rush delivery usually costs extra), the number of revisions included, and bundled extras like cover letters, LinkedIn profiles and interview coaching. "From" prices usually mean the entry-level tier, so expect to pay more if you have a longer career history.

Is a CV writing service worth it?

Sometimes. If you're applying and hearing nothing back, your CV is a likely cause, and fixing it is worth a modest outlay. If you're getting interviews but not offers, the CV is doing its job and your money is better spent on interview preparation.

The case for paying a human writer gets stronger the more senior you are. Early in your career there is less to shape. Later on, deciding what to leave out and how to present leadership takes judgement that is hard to apply to your own career.

Check the terms before you pay

Some CV services in this market run subscription models, where the headline price is an entry point and charges then recur monthly until you cancel. Before you pay anyone, read the terms and checkout page for words like "membership", "subscription" or "renews".

Read recent reviews on Trustpilot rather than the testimonials on the service's own site. A company chooses which testimonials to show you. On Trustpilot, sort by most recent and read the one- and two-star reviews as well as the five-star ones: patterns in the complaints tell you more than the overall score.

How we got these numbers

The named prices come from each service's own website and the ratings from Trustpilot, last checked in October 2026. The typical ranges are our reading of those prices and others across the UK market, not a formal survey. If you spot a price that has changed, email contact@cvcraft-ai.co.uk and we'll update it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a professional CV cost in the UK?

Most UK human-written CV services charge between £45 and £300 for a CV, depending on your career level. Early career CVs typically cost £45 to £100, mid career £80 to £180, and senior £150 to £300. Executive and C-suite CVs from a specialist consultant usually cost £300 to £500. AI-drafted services cost less, typically under £30.

Is a CV writing service worth it?

It depends on your level and what is holding you back. If you are early in your career, a good template and some effort usually gets you most of the way. If you are senior or executive, a skilled writer who interviews you can make a real difference to how your experience comes across. If you are getting interviews already, your CV probably isn't the problem.

Why do CV writing prices vary so much?

Price mostly tracks how much of a writer's time you get. Cheaper services work from your existing CV with little or no contact. More expensive ones include a phone consultation, a writer with experience in your sector, several drafts and extras like LinkedIn. Some headline prices are also an entry point to a subscription, which makes them look cheaper than they are.

How much should I pay for a CV?

Pay what matches your level. For early and mid career roles, there is rarely a reason to spend more than £100 to £180. For senior roles, £150 to £300 for an experienced writer is fair. For executive roles, £300 to £500 for a specialist is reasonable. If you've been quoted well above that, ask what is included that cheaper services don't offer.
